Tutorial : Page Setup for Printing
Prior to printing a script, the kind of formatting to use must be
specified. This is accomplished with the Page Setup dialog.
This dialog box contains settings that set up the printed pages. For this
exercise, a custom Print Style will be defined, and then saved
for future use.
Creating a Print Style
A
Print Style is a unique set of all of the settings in the Page Setup
dialog. When a Print Style is selected, the controls in the Page Setup dialog
change to the settings defined by the style.
In this exercise, we'll create a new print style, which will
print the script in a single column, using the font and line breaks
like the prompted output. Other options will be to print the script
as black text on a white background, and to include header text
that prints the file name, date, and printed page number.
Show how to create a custom Print Style
- In the Page Setup dialog box, locate the Print Styles listbox, and click on the down arrow.
- From the Print Styles drop-list, select <New>.
- In the same box, type in Print As Prompted, replacing the default text "New Settings".
- In the Line Spacing list, select 1.
- Check the box marked Invert text if BG color is black.
- Check the radio button marked WYSIWYG font size / line breaks.
- Under the Header and Footer area, delete the text from the Header field, and type in "&C &f - &D - Page: &P" (with no quotes).
- Delete the text from the Footer field.
- Enter these values for the Margins: Left, 3; Right, 0.5; Top, 1; and Bottom, 1.
- Click on the Save button near the Print Styles list. This saves the above settings by the name "Print As Prompted".
- Now the Page Setup dialog should look like this:
- Click OK to close the dialog box.
Now we're ready to see how the script is going to look when it's printed, and
then print the pages.
