Tutorial : Saving Scripts

Now that we've created a script, and added some text and formatting, we don't want all that hard work to go to waste, right? It's time to Save the script file.

When the script was first created, recall that it actually assigns a file name, as specified in Script Info. However, this file isn't written to your disk until you give the Save command.

The file was in the Listec Pro (.TPW) format when first created. Although other file types can be used, for this tutorial we'll stick with using the TPW format.

Save Script

Since the script we created already has a filename to use, the first call to the Save Script command silently saves the file as the file name specified in Script Info. Once given, each successive call to Save Script will ask you if you want to overwrite the file.
(Clicking 'No' opens the Save As box, see below.)

Save Script As...

The Save Script As command allows you to interactively save the file, so you can re-name it, select what folder it's saved to, or change the type. This is done with the Save As dialog box, which operates very similarly to Windows Explorer.

For an exercise, use the "Save As" command to save the example script we've been working on. Give the script a new file name: Listec Tutorial script, and save it in the current folder.
